The philosophy of the center is to focus on emotional intelligence in the care delivered to the children. All of the teachers at Paidea consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to this philosophy in caring for my own child who we adopted when she was 18 months of age. Every day for three years, my daughter’s preschool teacher, Carol, held my child so that she could give a final wave before I left the parking lot. Carol realized that transitions were difficult for my child, and accommodated her needs accordingly. The wonderful thing is that now my child transitions very well to new situations. In addition, Carol received the Washington County Child Care Giver of the Year Award in 2003.
Not only are the children at Paidea nurtured and cared for as they would be at home, but the parents receive the best parenting advice in town. Lynn Jessen, Paidea’s Director, is awesome. My husband and I have met with her on numerous occasions when we have been “stuck” in parenting. Whatever Lynn had advised us to do, we have tried it, and it has ALWAYS worked for us. She makes practical sense of child development, and makes it work.
Paidea is a gem of a place for the care of children, and I cannot recommend it enough!
I am convinced that Paidea was the best place to have our children from ages 2 through Kindergarten. Paidea’s focus on emotional intelligence is a huge asset that grows children in ways that don’t occur in purely academic programs.
As five year “veterans” of Paidea I can truly say that Paidea has been an incomparable experience for our two children. The staff are truly passionate individuals who care about the emotional growth of your child, and they work with each child to help them find their strengths and explore the world around them.
From the moment we visited Paidea we felt comfortable. Lynn and rest of the staff are open and friendly. We feel that our daughter’s needs are being met: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our daughter loves going to Paidea and we could not imagine her going anywhere else.
Paidea makes our family stronger. Their philosophy gives my child the skills to succeed in life. Not only do they develop the skills necessary to learn, but they also learn the skills to work with others. As parents we have learned how to communicate, discipline and embrace the Paidea philosophy. In addition to all of that the collaborative environment Paidea fosters has gifted me with lifelong friends!
Paidea has been wonderful for both of my daughters! I was very reluctant to go back to work in 2007 and put my kids in childcare but the people at Paidea were wonderful and supportive as they not only provided loving care for my children, but also helped me as I adjusted to this change in life.
Paidea means peace of mind.
Paidea not only cares for and teaches my child, they teach us and make us better parents.
“Tighter bond” and “Super Glue” denote the kind of relationship that my child has developed with each of her 3 teachers at Paidea.
Paidea is the best thing that ever happened to us! Our children have grown so much, and so have we as parents.
Extremely good kindergarten. Get to know the preschool and toddler teachers . . . they are good people and very sincere. Paidea staff are really good; makes interacting with Paidea a pleasant experience.
It's not about "daycare", it's about child development. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have our children at Paidea.
I don't think most school directors are this interested and available to the parents because they are most engaged in the bureaucracy of running a school.
Lynn's guidance and partnership have literally changed the way I parent - for the better! Her focus on temperament and understanding what each child really needs to work through a situation has changed the atmosphere in our house during conflicts 180 degrees.
We can't say enough about the staff at Paidea, in fact the quick connection our daughter made with the teachers in her classroom is the reason we chose this center.
Paidea Kindergarten is EXCELLENT! While we debated the financial to social aspects of this decision (e.g., whether it would be more of a challenge to transition them into First grade), it was one of the best desicions we ever made.
Paidea is the only place I would entrust my children and the parent nights have been priceless in the knowledge I have gained to work with Paidea’s philosophies and raise emotionally connected, enthusiastic and secure children.
Wow! I love this! Just reading the section on being a Paidea Child reminded me of all the wonderful reasons why we enrolled Kate, and gave me a warm feeling that she is in excellent hands while we are at work.
As a parent, I was fascinated by the fact that my children would go on weekly fieldtrips...that their world would grown so much bigger then just his classroom.
Paidea's (Lynn's) focus on social and emotional development and parent education are Paidea's signature strengths and what really set it apart. My children are learning foundational social skills that I can recognize will last them a lifetime.
The entire focus of this center is the kids. That may sound funny to some, but a lot of other places we looked at seem to focus on convenience for the parents, not what's best for our children.
The amount of vacation time Paidea offers, it's unheard of in the industry! It gives parents, who have the time off, an opportunity to spend more time with their kids and not be punished for doing so.
Paidea has been a unique experience not only for our son but also for us as parents.
Lynn is the greatest asset that Paidea has... for our kids, the teachers and especially us parents. She is the person that helps the rest of us all do the best jobs that we can. I think it is Lynn's philosophies and the teacher's execution of those philosophies that brought most of our families to Paidea.
